History of the Institute

Raniganj Private ITI (Unit of Surendranath Educational Trust), Post-Raniganj, Dist- Burdwan(West Bengal) is as a Industrial Training Institute (ITI) under private Management.

The RPITI runs training courses on Electrician and Fitter for duration of two years and on successful completion of the training as also on passing the qualifying examination the trainees are awarded certificates (National Trade Certificates) by the National / State Council for Vocational Training. The concerned certificate has all India recognition and appointments in various Govt., departments and PSUs, especially Railways are made on basis of this qualification. On passing, the trainees have good assurance of getting jobs.


RPITI, with a vision to developed into a vibrant & Core Centre of excellence by focusing on strenuous training, research & development; haves priorities for the upliftment of talents from down-trodden & economically poor sections of societies, obsessed to unexposure due to lack of amenities.


The scientific developments in various fields have virtually changed the approach to the intricate human problems globally, as a matter of fact the progress and prosperity of every nation depends largely on the technical knowhow it has been imbedded upon. That is why the technical education and training has acquired the status of life blood for the advancement in the modern scientific world.

Technical education does not only provide knowledge in education specific field but also enables educated youths to be self-supporting and self reliant and as such to a great extent, solved the burning problems of unemployment as well.

RPITI in its Mission strives to contribute to this field, particularly the industries the institute actually has been established to cater the technical education to the minority and back word communities of this plateau as well as the whole nation.


  • To develop skills, keeping in mind emerging occupations and changing nature of work as a result of technological changes and workplace processes, to enhanced employment – self employment potential of the youth.
  • To supply skilled manpower to Industries as per their need.
  • To develop employment-self employment oriented Vocational skills among illiterates, school dropouts, workers in unorganized sector, candidates registered in employment exchanges, self help groups irrespective of their age and educational background, to make them self reliant.
  • To make the Institutions more responsive and proactive, with regard to the kind of suggestions and recommendations made by the Industries, to develop constructive partnership between Industry and Institute.
  • To offer training for the various high end and low end activities in the Industry base sector and Service sectors.
  • To restructure operation of Vocational Training to enhance the quality, utility and effectiveness in the context of changing technologies and requirements in the labor market.
  • To reduce the burden of unemployment.
